The 2004 Class of the Mfantsipim Old Boys Association (MOBA ‘04) has launched a Trust Fund that seeks to raise GH₵2 million to support their alma mater.

The trust fund, according to the President of MOBA ’04, Samuel Menyah Asah-Kissiedu, is to finance the school’s forthcoming 2024 Speech and Prize Giving Day as well as the commemoration of Mfantsipim School’s 158th Anniversary in 2034, both of which are to be sponsored by the year group.

Additionally, the trust fund is also to cater for the health and welfare needs of members of MOBA ’04.

Speaking at an event dubbed ‘The Reconnect Night’ to launch the trust fund, Mr Kissiedu pointed out that the 2004 year group has already undertaken some development projects at the school.

“The 2004 Class Group has undertaken a number of projects for the school with some being the restoration of the revered “Faithful Eight” torch and the refurbishment of the school’s dispensary,” he noted.

Such endeavours by the 2004 Class Group exemplify their unwavering commitment to preserving the legacy of Mfantsipim School and fostering an enduring culture of benevolence.

Mr Kissiedu noted that the trust fund will be overseen by a 14-member board, each member being an alumnus of Mfantsipim School.

This is to ensure both prudence and efficiency in the operationalization of the fund, safeguarding the fund’s integrity and fostering an atmosphere of utmost transparency in its dispensation.

The President of the Mfantsipim Old Boys Association, Abusuapanyin Captain Paul Forjoe commended the year group for the initiative and asked all alumni of the school to contribute.

“I would like to say that the 2004 Year Group has done so well in putting this together and I sincerely hope that this trust fund which you have set up will raise the needed funds for the various projects and programmes the Year Group wants to undertake,” he said.

The fund is being set up with an initial seed capital of GH₵100,000.

Meanwhile, the launch event also served as a moment for the illustrious 2004 year class to reconnect and bask in the warmth of nostalgia after 19 years of completing their academic journey at the Mfantsipim School.
