3Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of Media General, has expressed compassion and sympathy to the family of the late Dorcas Margaret Madjitey, a spina bifida and hydrocephalus patient, who passed on before appeal for funds initiated on her behalf could be concluded to assist her to pay her medical bills.
As a gesture of compassion, the Foundation presented a cheque of public donations made through the Foundation, to late Dorcas’s family.
The cheque was received on behalf of the family by her brother, Joshua Madjitey, at Adesa We on March 7, 2023.
The condition of the late Dorcas, a university graduate, was brought to the attention of 3Foundation in 2022.
The Foundation was touched by her situation and decided to initiate an appeal for funds to complement the efforts of the family to settle the cost of a surgical procedure to correct ‘nephrosis’, a condition affecting her kidneys.
Unfortunately, she passed before donations from our generous viewers and well-meaning Ghanaians could be gathered and presented.
Presenting the cheque to the family, Mrs. Amma Quarm of 3Foundation said: “It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Dorcas Margaret Madjitey who inspired us all with her resilience and strength to advance and upgrade herself to tertiary level, in the face of adversity.”
She said the donation also demonstrated the importance 3Foundation attached to the vulnerable members of society and the impact that we seek to make in the lives of our communities.
On behalf of the Foundation, she hoped the donation will bring some measure of comfort to her family in their difficult time.
Joshua expressed his gratitude to the 3Foundation for the gesture.
