As is the norm for every reputable event that is meant to stay, VaRIGHTY EVENTS, the organisers of Adansi Media Awards outdoored the maiden edition of their awards scheme that is meant to take place every year.
The scheme is meant to recognise the outstanding work done by media men working in Adansi. This year’s competition has seen a representation from four radio stations namely Shaft FM, Time FM, Edubiaseman FM and Sikapa FM.
With twenty categories been keenly contested for, the nominees of each category were unveiled at the launch which took place at Anyinam Lodge in Obuasi. The occasion which had a massive coverage and representation from each of the radio stations was graced by highly reputable personalities including the Municipal Chief Executive of Obuasi – Honourable Elijah Adansi-Bonah, former Ashanti Regional Minister Honourable John Alexander Ackon, the Chief Fire Officer of Obuasi, a representative of the Sustainability Department of Anglogold Ashanti, a representative of Adansi Rural Bank and several other important dignitaries.
Unlike most launches, there was a seminar held for all present with a special focus on the media personnel hosted by Ebenezer Donkoh (NYDJ) of YFM Kumasi on the topic -Social Media Relevance in Traditional Media. Feedback from those present during and after the seminar indicated that they received great education.
The importance of this event was buttressed by the Municipal Chief Executive -Hon. Elijah Adansi-Bonah who after a series of meetings at his office made it to the event through rain as a great exhibition of his commitment to serve the people of his municipality. Less cannot be said about the former Ashanti Regional Minister Honourable John Alexander Ackon. With the main event happening on 30 December 2017, VaRIGHTY EVENTS slated the launch early to give them adequate time to prepare for the staging of the biggest event yet to hit Adansi. Meanwhile there will be a nominees jam which will happen on 21 December 2017.
Voting for this event is in two forms. Voting through the purchase of a voting chit that will be purchased by voters who may not be familiar with voting via USSD code and voting using a USSD code for those conversant with the use of USSD. This according to the organisers, is to provide a fair ground for all fans and loved ones of the media personnel to participate in the decision making.
Time FM received twenty four (24) nominations, with Sikapa FM coming second with fifteen (15) nominations, followed by Edubiaseman FM (13) with thirteen nominations and Shaft FM receiving seven (7) nominations.
This event is so far sponsored by INK POWER, a highly efficient and experienced Printing Company in Obuasi, ATS Anyinam Lodge, Golden View Lounge and several other sponsors still at the negotiation point with ghanasongs.com, bigupsgh.com, showbiz.com.gh, songs.com.gh and nydjlive.com as online media partners.
