Experienced Ghanaian coach Paa Kwesi Fabin has expressed his willingness to take charge of either Hearts of Oak or Asante Kotoko, as both teams continue their search for a new coach.
Fabin, whose contract with Aduana Stars expired recently, confirmed his availability for new coaching opportunities during an interview on Akoma FM.
Fabin had led Aduana Stars to a second-place finish the previous season, but he will be disappointed to have lost the league’s top spot to eventual winners Medeama after they had led for the majority of the campaign.
Meanwhile, Kotoko, the reigning champions at the start of the season, had to settle for fourth place, while Hearts of Oak struggled and finished in 12th place. Both teams had been hampered by the lack of a permanent coach.
Addressing the perception that the dominance of Kotoko and Hearts of Oak in the league was declining, Fabin stated, “The duopoly of Kotoko and Hearts in the league is not declining. We should clear that misconception. Our league must-have new champions to bring some freshness to our domestic league. Every season won’t be excellent for them, and again, there are ups and downs in everything, so their poor performance this season will spur them on to do better next season.”
Regarding his own future, Fabin revealed, “I signed a one-year contract with Aduana, and it’s over now. I don’t know what the future holds for me at the moment.”
He further emphasised his availability for coaching roles by saying, “Of course, coaching is the job I do for a living, so definitely any team that seeks my services, either Kotoko or Hearts, I’m available now. If any of them approach me, we will discuss it, and if an agreement is reached, I will take over.”
Fabin has previously managed both Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, bringing a wealth of experience to the table. As the two Ghanaian giants continue their search for stability, the potential appointment of Fabin could provide them with the guidance they need to bounce back and regain their prominence in the league.
