Dreams FC have officially announced their participation in the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup after securing Ghana’s sole ticket by virtue of their successful campaign in the FA Cup.
The club, determined to embrace the challenge, are confident of excelling in their debut appearance after clinching their first-ever major trophy as FA Cup champions last season.
In a notable 2-0 victory over King Faisal last month, Dreams FC secured the FA Cup title. However, there were concerns regarding the club’s readiness to take up the African ticket, considering the financial burden associated with competing in the continent’s second-tier club competition.
Addressing these concerns, Dreams FC released a statement on Monday, confirming their participation and stating, “Dreams FC have already applied for and been duly issued the license by the instant body to make its first-ever appearance in an African club competition.”
“Management is already working assiduously to present a formidable side for this task and now awaits the draw for the first preliminary round, expected in August.”
Established in 2009, Dreams FC swiftly climbed the ranks of Ghana’s football league system. Promoted to the Division One League in 2014, they subsequently earned a place in the Ghana Premier League in 2015, where they have competed ever since. Their FA Cup victory last season serves as a rewarding accomplishment for the club’s progress.
