A total of twenty-nine (29) dedicated individuals have undergone intensive training by the Headquarters Central Command of the Ghana Armed Forces as part of efforts to bolster their expertise and proficiency.
The two-week comprehensive training for personnel of the Manhyia Local Prisons Service was aimed to equip the participants with the necessary skills and knowledge required to enhance their efficiency and effectiveness in executing their responsibilities.
Participants were taken through intensive training that covered a wide range of critical subjects, including weapon handling, voice procedure, field craft, physical training, drills, and range classification.
The training commenced on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, and concluded on Friday, September 1, 2023, at the Command Headquarters, Idris Barracks, Kumasi.
Speaking during a closing ceremony, the Command Operations Officer (COO), Colonel Henry Ansah-Akrofi, who was the Guest of Honor, said the primary objective of the training was to equip the participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to tackle any challenges they might encounter while carrying out their duties.
He advised the participants to maintain the highest levels of professionalism at all times, urging them to lead by example by avoiding laziness and malingering.
He further stressed the importance of integrity and professionalism in their roles and urged them to be firm and fair when discharging their duties.
The Deputy Director of Prisons Joseph Asaabre, the Officer in Charge of the Manhyia Local Prisons Service, expressed his gratitude to the Headquarters Central Command for its unwavering support and assistance.
He expressed optimism that the strong relationship between the two services would continue to flourish.
During the ceremony, Deputy Director Asaabre presented a citation to Brigadier General Charles Agyemang-Prempeh, the General Officer Commanding, and Colonel Henry Ansah-Akrofi, the COO, on behalf of the Prisons Service Regional Commander for the Ashanti Region.
Notable figures from the Headquarters Central Command, including Colonel John Frempong-Manso, the Command Logistics Officer, Maj Allen Akwei Hammond, the Command General Staff Officer grade II (GSO II) Operations and Training, and Squadron Leader Daramy, the Command Legal Advisor, were in attendance to mark the successful conclusion of this important training initiative.
The training program exemplifies the commitment of the Headquarters Central Command to enhancing the capabilities of the Manhyia Local Prisons Service personnel, ultimately contributing to the improved safety and security of the region.
