Ghana youngster Ernest Nuamah is set to experience a change in leadership at Lyon, as the club announce Fabio Grosso as the replacement for Laurent Blanc who departed due to a series of disappointing results.
The former Ligue 1 champions have confirmed the appointment of the Italian manager in a deal that spans to the end of June 2024 with an option to extend for another year.
Nuamah joined the club in the summer transfer window after a fruitful spell with FC Nordsjaelland and has already impressed on his debut where he played 75 minutes in Lyon’s defeat to Paris St-Germain hoping to get more minutes as the season unfolds.
He would have another task of impressing the new boss whose first game would be against Brest next weekend. However, Grosso is expected to be present when Lyon take on Le Havre at home on Sunday as they seek their first win of the season.
The 19-year-old forward aims to continue his impressive performance for his team during their upcoming Sunday match. During the recent international break, he played a pivotal role for the Black Stars, becoming Ghana’s hero in a match against the Central African Republic. In that game, he scored the winning goal at the Baba Yara Stadium, securing Ghana’s qualification for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations as they came from behind to win 2-1.
He also opened the scoring for Ghana when they beat Liberia 3-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium in an international friendly.
Lyon are aiming to bounce back as they sit bottom of te league table with no wins and just a draw after four matches.
