George Mensah Britton, the manager of Ghanaian Afrobeats singer, Camidoh has stated that Black Sherif is the sole contender that poses a threat to his artiste’s chances of winning the Artiste of the Year award at the forthcoming VGMAs.
The music executive in an interview on Class FM said his artist was well on his way to making history at the awards show after snagging 5 top nominations including the ultimate, Artiste of the Year.
“We’re expecting nothing but success on the night. For him to be nominated in that category means it’s a possible win,” he disclosed
Britton however acknowledged that the presence of Ghanaian musician sensation, Black Sherif in the same category as his artiste could ruin their chances of winning.
“If I’ll actually be honest, I think the only competition there, will probably be Black Sherif. Aside from him, I don’t see anybody like that being trouble for Camidoh,” he said
Camidoh who took the world by storm with his “Sugarcane” single and its remix was under the radar for a while until his management team decided to re-strategize and take his brand to the next level.
“He was an underground artiste two years ago but has over the period worked hard to the top and a lot has been invested in him,” he pointed out.
Camidoh has received nominations for Most Popular Song of the Year, International Collaboration of the Year, Best Afrobeats / Afropop Artiste of the Year, Best Male Vocal Performance of the Year, and Best Afrobeats Song of the Year categories.
The 24th VGMAs will air live on TV3 on May 13 from the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
