Ghanaian performing artist and hottest kid on the block, Black Sherif has made history as the youngest and only artist from Ghana to hit a total stream of 1 billion across all music platforms as of April 2023.

Following the release of 3 of his critically-acclaimed albums; The Villain I Never Was, Second Sermon and First Sermon, the 21-year-old got music lovers streaming his song on various music platforms including iTunes, AudioMack, Boomplay, Spotify, Deezer and Youtube.

As a rising star in the Ghanaian music industry, he’s made waves since he burst onto the scene with his hit single “Money.”

The song became an instant hit and quickly gained traction on social media, propelling Black Sherif to fame.

Since then, he has released several other popular songs, including “Second Sermon,” which has been a massive success both in Ghana and internationally.

Fans of the “Oil On My Head” star took to social media to congratulate him on the novel feat describing him as “an inspiration and G.O.A.T of music”

Explaining how he was able to achieve this milestone in a short span of his career, industry insiders reveal that his unique storytelling style and sound set him apart from other musicians in Ghana while his music has resonated with audiences all over the world.

This is not the first time the young musician has received awards for his music streams as his debut album, ‘Villian I Never Was’ surpassed 70 million streams on Audiomack in less than 24 hours.

He was honoured by Boomplay when he earned the 100 million Golden mark on the platform in 2022.

“For a platform that first discovered Black Sherif as a potential rising star, Boomplay is proud to see his phenomenal growth in such a short time,” Boomplay Ghana public relations manager Paul Azumah-Ayitey said at an awards presentation.

Born Mohammed Ismail Sherif and signed by the American distribution company and record label EMPIRE, Sherif’s strategy for success includes but is not limited to his active engagement with his fans on social media.

His collaboration with other musicians including Burna Boy and Sarkodie has also demonstrated his commitment to his craft and his desire to succeed.
