Rapper Joey B has added his voice to the ongoing campaign of playing 80% of Ghanaian songs on our airwaves which came about after the cold attitude Nigerians showed some Ghanaian top stars who were in their country to perform.
Speaking in an interview on Gh One TV, Joey B indicated that he sees the campaign as “useless” because it will not help in pushing Ghanaian music beyond the borders of the country making all songs been centered only in the country.
According to the “Tonga” hitmaker, there is supposed to be a concerted effort at ensuring that artistes support each other so that Ghanaian music can be exported out of the country.
Using his popular song “Tonga” as an example, he stated that the song was able to cross all borders because most people in the industry helped in pushing indicating that similar support should be given to every project a Ghanaian artiste releases and that will help sell Ghana music outside Ghana.
Joey B, when questioned about his competitors in the industry, indicated that he has no competition with the A-Class artiste but rather sees the upcoming artistes as his competitors because they are bringing something new to the industry.
