Lazio goalkeeper Ivan Provedel stole the headlines on Tuesday night as he left his post to head home the final cross of their first game of the 2023/24 Champions League against Atletico Madrid.
The Italian outfit struggled to find the back of the net despite an all-round impressive performance in the first half as they fell to a deflected strike from Pablo Barrios which gave the former Spanish champions the lead.
Lazio were fortunate to have avoided conceding another as Provedel made great saves with Morata being denied by the woodwork as well.
However, after 11 attempts in the second half, Lazio found themselves in a difficult situation which could have seen them end their first home game in the competition with a defeat but the goalkeeper rose to the occasion to nod in the leveller in the 95th minute courtesy of a brilliant cross from Luis Alberto leaving fans as well as his teammate in absolute ecstacy.
