Recording dancehall artiste, Epixode has revealed that he had a fatherhood epiphany after his daughter was born which forced him to reflect on the legacy of his music.

Sharing his musical journey with co-hosts, Berla Mundi and AJ Sarpong on TV3 New Day, the “Atia” crooner said fatherhood had changed him.

According to the artiste who is also known as Theophilus Nii Arday Otoo, the direction of his music switched because he wanted his daughter to be proud of his works and the contents he churned out.

“I think when I had my daughter, she’s 5 years and will be 6 this year it opened me up to not just being a dad but the music,” Expixode explained

“What I ask myself is 5 years from now will my daughter be proud to play my music when she is with her friends?? So you know then I can’t do slack music or certain type of music and that is where the growth stems from”

Epixode who is heavily influenced by his mother, a veteran Ghanaian traditional musician said he wanted to carry on the legacy of his parents through his music.

“Looking at the legacy the family left with music, I think is right that I continue it. It might not be in the same space but it will just be nice to have a good representation of the family,” he added
