Managing Editor of the Daily Dispatch Ben Emmanuel Ephson says the only election predictions he usually gets wrong are internal party elections.

For general elections, he said except for the 2016 elections, he has got all the results spot-on since 1996.

This, he intimated, motivates him to continue to predict the outcome of elections and he is not stopping after so many years of getting it right.

Ben Ephson’s reactions comes after he received bashing on social media for predicting, wrongfully, that the Parliamentary Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Charles Opoku, was going to snatch the Assin North seat from James Gyakye Quayson of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Tuesday’s by-elections.

However, provisional results put the NDC Parliamentary Candidate ahead of his opponents including Liberal Party of Ghana’s Bernice Enyonam Sefenu.

Speaking on 3FM after the provisional results were published, Mr Ephson conceded that he got his prediction wrong.

But he insists that is not going to stop him from predicting election results in future given his only major setback in 2016 when he had it wrong.

“2016 I got it wrong, I did not stop,” he told Johnnie Hughes on Tuesday night.

“These things don’t bother me [because] I’ve got a track record.”

He said he is used to the reactions on social media and 2016 was worse.

“I am not going to talk. If that’s what they are going to hear, I’m not going to say anything.”
