Pollster Ben Emmanuel Ephson has reacted to trolls on social media over his wrongful prediction of the outcome of the Assin North by-election.

The Managing Editor of Daily Dispatch had predicted a win for New Patriotic Party’s Charles Opoku as against National Democratic Congress’ James Gyakye Quayson.

Provisional results from Tuesday’s by-election, however, put the NDC Parliamentary Candidate ahead, widening the votes margin from 2020.

This provoked trolls on social media as many teased Ben Ephson over his recent prediction faux pas.

Reacting to this on 3FM 92.7MHz, Mr Ephson conceded getting his prediction wrong but strongly indicated that he has covered seven elections and has only got one – in 2016 – wrong.

“From 1996, I got it spot-on,” he told Johnnie Hughes on Tuesday night.

“These things don’t bother me [because] I’ve got a track record,” he stressed.

He said the bashing he got in 2016 is worse than what he is getting now and so will not be discouraged to predict the outcome of future elections since he did not stop seven years ago.

He said even tried and tested as well as scientific predictions from the United States of America fail over outcomes of some elections.

“What if I got it right? I’m kind of used to it.”
