An aspiring Parliamentary Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Jomoro Constituency says his constituents would vote skirt and blouse in the 2024 elections should delegates refuse to give him the nod on Saturday, May 13.

Mr. Francis Kwaido Akatia said the constituents believe he is the only who can redeem them and so the NDC delegates should consider him for the Parliamentary Candidate position.

Mr. Akatia made the observations in an interview with 3news.com.

This is his third time attempt in the primaries.

He was second to the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Dorcas Affo-Toffey, in the last primaries held prior to the 2020

On calls by the constituents that the incumbent MP, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has suffered and must be given another chance, Mr. Akatia explained that her court case was self-inflicted.

He said her documentations brought that suit and she did not suffer for the party, indicating further that he has toured the entire Constituency and what the people are telling him is that if he is not elected as the candidate to lead in the 2024 elections, they will vote for Mahaha for the presidential but vote for the NPP candidate in the parliamentary elections.

He said he has also suffered because he has served the party for several years.

The NDC parliamentary aspirant explained that the incumbent MP has not been able to develop the constituency ever since she was voted for in the 2020 elections.

Mr. Akatia noted that he has consulted widely in the constituency and as such he knows the needs of the people.

He said his main aim of trying to annex the seat is for job creation for the youth.

Mr. Akatia said he will organize a capacity building programme for the youth to enable him know where every youth can fit in order for him to be able to help them.

“We shall do this for delegates who are a critical part of the party but are complaining of not having anything after several years of service to the party,” he added.

Mr. Akatia said he will leverage on the Petrol-chemical Bill which was passed by Parliament to lure investors to Jomoro and its environs should he win the seat in 2024.

“The investors will acquire land in the Constituency and so I will build the capacity of the youth so that when jobs are open, the youth will be able to work, else the company will bring outsiders to come and work.”

He added: “Jomoro is one area with so many beautiful things so you need someone with ideas to help them develop.

“Nzulezu is a World Heritage tourism site and we share a border with Ivory Coast so if you develop the tourism aspect, it will attract more people to create employment.”

Mr. Akatia alleged that after the last NDC primaries, the incumbent MP told some of the delegates that he cannot work with them but he is ready to work with them.
