Ningo Prampram Lawmaker Samuel Nartey George has defended former President John Dramani Mahama’s decision to support each delegate with GHS40 for transportation in the just-ended presidential and parliamentary primaries.
To enable the delegates to move from their home to partake in the primaries, the former President decided to support each of them with cash.
“The Campaign believes supporting the delegates to travel to the centers will ensure a high voter turnout and every voter will be empowered to vote and return home without financial impediment in these difficult economic times,” a statement signed by the Spokesperson of Mr Mahama, Joyce Bawa Mogtari, said.
Asked for his view on the action of the eventual winner of the presidential primaries while speaking on the Big Issue on TV3 Tuesday, May 16, Sam George who was also reelected parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic Congress in Ningo Prampram said ” if you are inviting people from all …that is transportation.”
Sam George further said the security must invite Madam Juliana Kinang-Wassan, one of the parliamentary aspirants for the Ejura Sekyedumase Constituency, who was seen spraying money at a crowd during the NDC presidential and parliamentary elections on Saturday, May 13 at Ejura Sekyedumase, in the Ashanti Region.
He described her action as despicable and one that the NDC denounces.
“Anybody who engaged in that kind of open ostentatious vote buying like the lady should be invited by the security service and be investigated. It is a despicable act and as a party, we denounce such behavior.
“Our flagbearer John Mahama held a press encounter at the UPSA on political financing and spoke about the need for us to have decent politicking and vote buying is the bane of our politics,” he said
