2018 Ghana Meets Naija concert is scheduled to come off on Saturday. Shatta Wale is not part of the artiste list which was officially unveiled by organizers in May.
But he will be performing as a special guest according to Nana Aba Anamoah The 2018 edition of annual Ghana Meets Naija concert comes off this Saturday, June 9, at the Fantasy Dome at the Trade Fair site in Accra.
A tall list of artists representing the two countries was unveiled in Accra on May 8 The list included WizKid, Mayorkun, Mr. Eazi for the Nigerian side and Stonebwoy, Kidi, Kuami Eugene, Patapaa, for the Ghanaian side, among others.
Surprisingly missing was the name of Shatta Wale, arguably Ghana’s biggest artiste now an ever-present feature in the last five series.
Rumors went around that Dancehall King had been dropped because of WizKid who had allegedly insisted that he will not be on the same stage with Shatta Wale who attacked him sometime in 2017.
However, it looks like the omission of Shatta Wale’s name was all a ploy by the organizers and that Shatta Wale will be performing at the event, after all, popular GH One TV broadcaster Nana Aba Anamoah has suggested.
In a tweet on Wednesday, Nana Aba stated Shatta Wale will be special at the show and must bring her his gringo hat to complement her outfit.
“My boy @shattawalegh, I hear say you be the special guest for Ghana meets Naija. I beg waaaa bring along the gringo hat. I wan take complete my Shada! #GhanameetsNaija18,” she tweeted.

Knowing how close Nana Aba is to the organizers of Ghana Meets Naija, her statement is as good as a confirmation of Shatta Wale’s participation.
Ghana Meets Naija concert is from the stables of Empire Entertainment whose CEO, Bola Ray doubles as the CEO of EIB Network, owners of GH One TV and other media enterprises.
The annual concert is based on celebrating, uniting and exploring the different yet similar musical tastes, cultures, and artists of both Ghana and Nigeria.
Over the years, the concert has seen some of West Africa’s biggest music artists like Shatta Wale, Wizkid, M.I, Tiwa Savage, Davido, R2Bees, Samini, Kwaw Kese, Guru, 4×4, M.anifest and Timaya thrilling thousands of patrons.
It is not known if Nana Aba’s statement is off script but YEN.com.gh checks suggest that withholding Shata Wale’s name and introducing him at the last hour has been the plan of organizers all along.
