North Tongu Member of Parliament Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa says he has been given the “impetus”, “more verve” and “more drive” to continue his exposés on the National Cathedral following the dismissal of a contempt suit filed against him by Secretary to the Trustees of the project Rev Victor Kusi Boateng.
An Accra High Court on Tuesday, May 2 dismissed Rev Kusi Boateng’s suit, adducing that the evidence presented by the plaintiff failed to meet the legal standard of proof.
Speaking to Media General‘s Laud Adu-Asare after the verdict, the lawmaker said he has been inspired to do what is right in the national interest.
He said the outcome of the case has removed every distraction in his way to bring to light the plots of the “shenanigans”.
“[The dismissal of the case] gives us impetus, it gives us more verve, more drive, more inspiration to keep doing what is right in the national interest.
“Nothing is going to stop us now. We are no longer going to be distracted by all of these shenanigans, the abuse of the judicial process and I am glad that the judge really stamped the authority of the court and cleared this out of the way, dismissed it and awarded cost so that we can focus on the work we are doing for God and country.”
He also gave the clearest indication yet that he will continue to resist the construction of the cathedral given the sacrilege it has been bedaubed with.
“This will go down in history as the most reckless, the most corrupt, the most ungodly project ever and it is really a shame that it is being done in the name of God. [It is] really blasphemous, really sacrilegious and we will continue to resist this project and we will continue to expose nothing but the truth.”
