The Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Abass Nurudeen, has slammed the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) for their vote buying tactics during the just-ended Assin North by-election.
Speaking on weekend political show on Akoma 87.9FM Wonsom in Kumasi with Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin, Abass Nurudeen said NPP shared everything including “Akpeteshie” during Tuesday’s by-election.
He said the NPP was sharing GH¢200 and GH¢300 to some voters to influence them to vote for their candidate.
He, however, denied claims that he was involved in distributing money and accused the NPP of attempting to divert attention from their own actions.
He revealed that he personally witnessed the distribution of money in ten different locations in Assin Breku, the district capital, and other communities within the Assin North Constituency and called on the Ghana Police Service and the Office of the Special Prosecutor to address the issue.
He said the NDC’S victory in Assin North will propell the party to victory in the 2024 general elections.
