Renowned music producer Wei YƐ Oteng has weighed in on the ongoing controversy surrounding Yvonne Nelson’s memoir and Sarkodie’s response.
Oteng who was speaking on TV3 New Day expressed concern over the breach of privacy that occurred with the revelation of intimate details in the book.
“There is a breach of privacy in there. Sometimes you should think about all these things,” he pointed out.
According to Oteng, matters that occur in the bedroom should be kept private, and sharing them with the world constitutes a breach of privacy.
“So Sark has every right to do what he needs to do because whatever we do in the bedroom is private so if you come out telling the world what happened it’s a breach of privacy. Have we thought about that?” he quizzed
While acknowledging that Sarkodie had the right to respond to the allegations made in the book, Oteng personally feels that Sarkodie’s response was inappropriate.
“Now the moment you start to dent the brand then he needs to respond but unfortunately for me, Sarkodie gave a response that in my opinion shouldn’t have, it was so wrong,” he emphasized.
According to the C.E.O Drum Lyne Music Facility, he believes that Sarkodie missed an opportunity to handle the situation differently.
Oteng went on to state that if he were part of Sarkodie’s team, he would advise Sarkodie to use the situation as a platform to leverage his brand, secure ambassadorial deals, and issue a statement acknowledging his past actions while encouraging responsibility among the youth.
“If I was part of Sark’s team, the advice I’ll give him is ‘Jo, this is the situation, now it is an avenue for us to even blow, make some money, bag ambassadorial deals, issue a statement that I was young and vibrant and this happened,” he stated.
Oteng suggests that rather than engaging in a public dispute, Sarkodie could have capitalized on the situation to create positive change.
“Sarkodie could have said I will entreat the youth, guys can we protect ourselves when we do this? Can we take responsibility if we did or even if we have to have an abortion, let’s do it and still offer help,” he added.
The back-and-forth between Sarkodie and Yvonne Nelson has sparked public interest and discussions as fans and listeners share their thoughts on Sarkodie’s response and the revelations from both sides.
