Black Avenue Musik boss, D Black has disclosed that finding success in any kind of business or showbiz for that matter, cannot be premised on talent alone.
At least D Black appears to agree with the assertion that most Ghanaian artistes live a fake life as Dancehall King, Shatta Wale claims.
Speaking exclusively in an interview with Ghanaweb, D Black bluntly admitted that there are better rappers than him but are struggling to become successful.
According to him these “talented broke rappers” out there do not have the ability to afford “the machinery or business acumen enough to push what they’re doing,’ in order to be ‘wealthy’ like him.
The locally and internationally famed rapper admits that “It’s not just about talent” that makes musicians relevant.
He added that there are rappers as good as or better than Guru and Sarkodie, who have found success in the rapping game, but had still not found their big break in Show business, alas.
Apart from not having a business mind, he said another reason a potential rapper may fail will be due to the lack of a business-driven team that “has the mindset to push him to that point of success.”
He labeled them as “talented broke artistes” while emphasizing the importance of having a “business savvy team” who would compensate for the talent’s lack of basic business skills.
D Black is positive the combination of talent and business making skills would contribute greatly to the success of young artists.
