West Ham United’s £20 million offer for Manchester United’s Harry Maguire has been rejected, according to the Athletic.
West Ham manager David Moyes is keen on acquiring Maguire, but the potential transfer faces challenges due to the size of the player’s salary and uncertainties about his willingness to make the move.
The financial aspect of Maguire’s salary could pose difficulties for the Europa Conference League winners, making it unlikely that they will make another bid.
Maguire’s standing in Manchester United has diminished under manager Erik ten Hag, featuring in only 16 Premier League games last season, with Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, and Victor Lindelof being preferred in central defence. Additionally, Ten Hag relieved the 30-year-old of his United captaincy ahead of the upcoming season.
Despite the limited minutes, Maguire, whose contract with Manchester United runs until 2025, has expressed his intention to stay and compete for his place in the team. Meanwhile, the club is seeking to offload some players this summer to secure funds for potential reinforcements.
