Gyankroma Akufo-Addo is not fit to hold the position of Director of the Creative Arts Council - Kojo Preko Dankwa

Entertainment pundit and media consultant, Kojo Preko Dankwa, has voiced strong criticism over the appointment of Gyankroma Akufo-Addo as the Director of the Creative Arts Council.

In a recent statement on Onua Showbiz, Dankwa expressed his concerns about the legality of her appointment and the potential implications for the council’s operations.

Dankwa’s primary argument revolves around the assertion that Gyankroma Akufo-Addo’s appointment as Director was not conducted through proper channels.

He claims that her appointment violates Act 115, Article 195, which dictates the procedures for such appointments.

Dankwa alleges that her father, President Nana Akufo-Addo, appointed her without the necessary consent or appointment process.

“Gyankroma Akuffo-Addo, who is the president’s daughter, has been appointed illegally as the director of the creative arts. She was not duly appointed. Her father (President Akuffo-Addo) put her there without due process to the law,” he told the show’s host

Dankwa further pointed out that the absence of a formal board to oversee the Creative Arts Council’s operations is a critical issue.

He claims that President Akufo-Addo has yet to appoint an executive secretary to the council, yet his daughter occupies the position of Director.

“The president knows that in Act 115, Article 195 that he is mandated to appoint a board. Even the president for 2-4 years now does not have an executive secretary but his daughter is there,” he revealed

This irregularity, according to Dankwa, raises questions about the legitimacy of her position and the council’s functioning.

“The risk is that his daughter is illegal and there’s no board to help her because she only expressed interest and it was gifted to her,” he pointed out.

He also raised concerns about the lack of accountability and transparency surrounding Gyankroma Akufo-Addo’s tenure as Director.

The pundit also questioned her ability to address critical policy matters and respond to inquiries from parliament, given the absence of a formal board to support her.

“What it means is that her visibility and attention to policies and hauling her to certain things will be big and large when parliament calls her to answer certain questions and she’ll account for it,” he indicated.

Dankwa also called attention to the high-profile project initiated by Gyankroma Akufo-Addo, involving the beautification of parts of Accra at a reported cost of 2 million dollars.

He asserted that to date the Ministry of Creative Arts has not been able to provide clear details about the project or its expenses.

“Her ‘so called’ 2 million dollar project to beautify parts of Accra for instance till date, the ministry is unable to ask her what went into it or neither did the ministry speak on her ill-written statement after it was released. Did you hear the minister or ministry speak about it ??” he enquired.

This lack of transparency, according to Dankwa, underscores the need for more accountability within the council.

Furthermore, Dankwa highlights the resignation of Frankie 5, a respected figure within the industry, due to frustration stemming from the lack of formalization and proper organization within the council.

“Frankie 5 has resigned due to frustration. The agency is far from the agent. Because it’s not formalised and backed by law, Frannkie was not even paid. Currently, Gyankorama is the only one in the council. Since 2016, they’ve not paid their salaries which only means that a judgement debt is looming especially if another government comes to power in 2024,” he concluded.
