The ad hoc committee looking into the leaked tape on the IGP says it has been furnished with the new tape, which is over an hour longer than the first tape.

Vice Chair James Agalga says the new tape was presented to the committee by the very first witness, Daniel Bugri Naabu, who made a second appearance on Wednesday, September 13.

The second appearance of the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) was held in camera in the presence of the other witnesses except the Inspector General of Police, Dr George Akuffo Dampare.

Speaking on TV3‘s Ghana Tonight on Wednesday, Mr Agalga said the new tape is about two hours long and will be made available to all the witness as they have requested it.

That partly informed the decision to break proceedings for about two weeks, he said.

“First of all, the lawyers for some of the witnesses wanted the committee to furnish them with the new tape that has emerged and we thought it was proper to grant them the opportunity to go through the new tape and prepare their clients well and respond to the questions that we will be asking them,” the Builsa North Member of Parliament told Alfred Ocansey.

He also adduced that the majority of the members of the committee would also want to visit their constituencies to help in the ongoing limited voter registration exercise, which ends on Monday, October 2.

Mr Agalga explained that is why the seven-member committee will be resuming on that very day.

Meanwhile, a day after Dr Dampare appeared before the committee, proceedings were heard in camera.

The Naamong Chief was the first to be heard, followed by the National Security Minister, Albert Kan Dapaah.

Sittings are set to continue in October upon resumption.
