The Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of Media General Group, Beatrice Agyeman, has congratulated news anchor Paa Kwesi Asare for winning the 2023 BBC Komla Dumor Award.
TV3’s News 360 anchor was named the latest recipient of the prestigious award on Monday, August 21.
He becomes the first Ghanaian to scoop the Award after it was rolled out in 2015 in honour of the late host BBC World News and Focus on Africa.
Madam Agyeman says the Award reflects the excellence of Ghana’s leading television news station and authorities will not rest of their oars to churn out more world-class journalists.
The Award comes barely a year after co-host of News 360 Portia Gabor was crowned Ghana Journalists’ Association (GJA) Journalist of the Year.
“The award is a reflection of TV3’s excellence in journalism and we are motivated to continue our training programmes to build our news team into world class journalists to win more of such awards,” Madam Beatrice Agyeman said.
As part of the award, Paa Kwesi will spend three months working with BBC News teams in London across television, radio, and online.
He will be given the opportunity to further develop his journalism skills through training, workshops, and mentoring with leading BBC journalists.
