Nana Appiah Mensah

The Deputy Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Alfred Tuah-Yeboah, has hinted at moving for a daily trial in the case involving Nana Appiah Mensah, the Chief Executive Offficer (CEO) of defunct gold dealership firm Menzgold.

Reading the facts of the case at the Economic and Financial Court on Tuesday, September 19, Mr Tuah-Yeboah stressed that the state will move for a day-to-day hearing on the case.

“We will move for a day-to-day trial hearing as the case proceeds,” he told the court in Accra.

NAM1, as the first accused is popularly known, has pleaded not guilty to all 39 charges including defrauding by false pretence contrary to Section 131(1) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).

His lawyer, Kwame Boafo Akuffo, told the court his client has been on bail for the past three years and, in all these years, has attended court proceedings despite his health condition.

He argued that the matter of change of name from Menzbanc to Menzgold was advice from the Bank of Ghana and not to defraud clients.
